I am not arguing with the GM ACDelco Iridium's as they are the factory replacement. The NGK laser iridium's are great and I have used those. THis past year I used brisk Silvers and I have been happy with them thus far. They are a heat level a little too low for me so I have some hotter ones going in soon. I also have a set of Ruthenium plugs from NGK which are the newest metal and apparently an upgrade from iridium.
GM plugs are NGK MFG. So Either one will work. I ran into this last spring and found the different part number changes reflected the move to NGK now MFG the plugs.
On plug wires most wires are made by most major Mfgs. I have found the LS 8 MM wires from Summit Racing is a great wire. The price is great too. They work with the factory heat shields too with a number of colors. I used the red ones and they look like the GM wires for the most part. I removed the Summit from the wires.
Are you a seasonal changer, or a once-and-done-for-life?
Seasonal - whatever is cheap, but keep the wires at least name brand
Never touching this again, crossing my fingers - MSD 8.5 and iridiums
I've run the same MSD wires since 2004!! If they work faultlessly to 7,000rpm in my built LS7, why change them? Also iridium plugs for nearly 8 years/50,000 miles. One plug recently lost its iridium pad on the ground strap, so I replaced that 1 plug. Other 7 were as perfect as you could ever ask for.....
