Default Rim Width Question

I just picked up a 2002 Electron Blue convertible. I've read all the posts I can find on the staggered heights and how it affects the computer systems. My question is about the width. I'm planning on going with some replica wheels and am leaning towards 17 x 9.5 on front and 18 x 9.5 on the rear. Doing so I can keep the heights front and rear at the factory spec and have a good selection of tires.

Is there any down side on the C5 running the same width front and rear? I don't plan to track the car and it will be my long range cruiser as it has the largest trunk of my fun cars.

I'd love to run 10.5 inch on the rear, but I am not pleased with the tire selection available. I'm pretty picky and want the same visual sidewall height front and rear. Something along a 305/35/18 would be ideal.

I had looked at 255/45/17 front and 285/40/18 rear and would be happy as each tire would have the same sidewall height and relative stretch on the rims. Only Nitto makes a tire in that size combo. I run Nitto on my other cars and am happy with them but I hate to buy new rims I am going to have trouble getting tires for.

Anyway, back to the original question. Is there any down side to running the same WIDTH wheel front and rear.

BTW, long time lurking and finally got to purchase a Corvette or actually two.

My advice would be to go 18/19. Better tire selection for a start.

As far as your original question goes, many people run the same width wheel on all 4 corners, or they call it a square setup, without issue. Personally, I purchased wheels and tires from tire rack 3-4 years ago
18x9.5 front 275 35 tire
19x10.5 rear 305 30 tire
my car is not lowered
I have zero issues.

Lots of tires available in those sizes, but only runflat I’ve seen available was Michelin tire. Most are summer only tires.

I could run 285 35 rear and 255 40 front which I believe are C6 standard sizes.
