Default radiator saddle blues

First off, I love my Wife, she loves driving her Z06, I will always maintain these cars are not really DD's. Although I will fix anything that breaks or needs maintenance cause my Wife is the best. She hit something in the road or a parking curb and pulled the radiator saddle nut inserts(not a fan) though the frame. Hard to see with my pic's

So I came up with this fix in case someone else has this issue, these brackets came out of my metal scrap pile, drilled a hole in the frame big enough to inset these with the help of a magnet.

added a stud, then installed my saddle.

Done now to address the other BIG C5 issue, cleaning the radiator and AC condenser (hate the design)

Happy Wife happy life

Judging from the looks of all the crap between your condenser and radiator......Are you driving the car through cotton fields????? My God, I've got almost 140,000 miles on my 24 year old 2000, and even if I had never cleaned this area before, it would be very doubtful if I'd have accumulated this much junk in 24 years TOTAL!!! WOW-NEVER seen this much junk clogging the coolers.....

FWIW : I bought a 'West Coast Corvette' Radiator guard it keeps any large trash like leaves or plastic bags and it is just diamond cut aluminum flat stock, it's held in place by the 7 small screws under the center of the Bumper and takes all of about 10 minutes to install. Cheap fast trash grill to keep out the large debiries. If I'm not wrong, your wifes Z06 has a aluminum chassis so she could of hit something didn't feel like anything big, but with a aluminum frame, any damage is almost expected no matter how careful she is or was !

with the design, these cars are big vacuum cleaners, doesn't take much to suck up a bunch of crap !! when I was in Mi. with my 99, I had screens on it, down in Texas didn't think it was necessary (wrong) will get a major screen mod. We also AutoX this car and sometimes the lots we use can be full of crap ??

The airbox in the picture looks like it’s out of a base model. Was this in the Z06 ?

Since the 2001 Z06 was 385hp, perhaps the airbox had not been upgraded yet. The later Z06 had a much wider air intake opening (see below), and it’s effect is quite noticeable. All the dimensions are the same, except the opening.

I bought a used on the forum for about $150. The one pictured is just an image I picked up off the net, but they pop up from time to time…
