Pictures would help verify what it is since the shifter itself may be a C5 or C6.
If C5, then the shaft is threaded and once any detente pin or screw is removed you can rotate counter clockwise to spin it off.
If C6, then the screw or bolt would have been at the bottom of the shift **** and mounted crosswise through the shaft. In this case you remove that locking bolt and simply pull the **** up and off the sometimes smooth and sometimes contoured shaft depending on if it is OE or aftermarket.
Uploading photos as requested. I am trying to change my boot and I cannot get the shift **** off. I embarrassed myself in front of my 12 year old ( as we are working on car together). My guess is a GS creations C6 shift **** on stock C5 shifter. My new car is 2003 C5Z. See photos please help.
I didn't notice this screw & its location in the pictures you've already shared. Can you photograph where the screw came from? Just wondering if that screw was used to keep the **** from rotating (on the threaded **** shaft) or otherwise.
so guys- you saying all I need to do is turn counterclock wise? I did take the small allen screw out of shifter.
I can do camshaft but I cant get the **** off Go figure.
Yes, the C5 shifter lever is only a threaded rod, that's the only possible way your **** is still holding on so tight...maybe it's got red loctite on it!
