Default C5 Manual Shifter - Need Recomendation

Have a problem with the stock shifter in my C5 Z06.

My car is caged.
The seating position is lower than stock (for helmet room) - so now my elbow is sometimes hitting the side of transmission tunnel.

I am looking for a higher shift **** shift **** location and maybe (not required) offset towards the steering wheel.

Ideally, I would like the shift location at steering wheel height.

Anything off-the-shelf or aftermarket solutions?

With a taller ****, I guess I will have to go to a short throw shifter to off-set the increased throw distance of a higher ****?

I'd go shorter throw with a longer **** for sure. And a different and/or upgraded lower box because with shorter throw and longer lever you'll probably notice extra shifter box slop. In any case, for this application I'd recommend MGW: https://www.mgwshifters.com/shifters/corvettes/88 You could replace the shift **** shaft with a longer version or something along those lines.

I have one of these TMod shifters in my car and really like it it. You can send in the lower box for overhaul or buy the billet lower box. I had originally sent in the lower box and while that was a huge improvement on the stock shifter, the TMod shifter is way better than stock in both feel and operation. I went with the 20% reduction shifter and I really like how the shifter works and feels while driving. Even if you get a different shifter having TMod go through the lower box is money well spent imo
Send in your lower box with new shifter:

Hmmm....

Ok, off the bat the best shifters have been MGW, Tick, Callaway. I suspect LG and Kirban are up there too but I haven't tried them.

You are seeking a custom height. For that I suggest any brand which has a fixed shaft that then has two bolts to secure it to an upper shaft. You can then make or have made a taller shaft to truly customize your shifter height. That's definitely going to make throw force a ton easier, but it is also going to put your right hand traveling farther. "Wheel height" in my head sounds wicked tall.

Callaway has a bolt setup. Tick does also, and theirs also has a detente section to the shifter base and upper shaft fit together and then are bolted. My older MGW is a single center mounted shaft which can be replaced, and so that also can be built to suit if you have a machine shop.

One setup I have which has been interesting is the old BPP shifter. Two bolts in the base shaft, four holes in the upper. That allowed the driver eight different locations for the **** placement relative to the shifter as the upper bar was slightly angled and the four holes allowed various bolting options. I'd recommend it but that model takes careful adjustment to center vs others.

Best bet? Order a new one from one of the better brands above. Ask for a longer shift rod, threaded C5 style. Cut it to your preference once you get it. Likewise, screw on ***** can be loc-tited in to any preferred height once you've gone through the trial and error phase.

If you get a model which comes with its own tub, so be it. I have not tried them. I prefer the oe C5 Z06 tub (solid mounts, no bushings vs base models with easy fail rubber bushings) with the TMODcustoms work done.

I had the same problem in the race car so I made my own shift "****" which is more of a tube than a ****. I got two nuts that fit the stock shifter threads, one I welded on the bottom of a 2" diameter 4" long pipe the other one was used to lock it in place. I can raise and lower the "****" to the height that works for me.
