Default C5 Z06 tires

I am needing to replace my tires on my C5Z06 and 7 years ago when I could not find a suitable replacement in the 265/40-17 size, I went with 275/40-17 up front and the OEM size of 295/35-18 in the back and didn’t have any EBCM codes for quite a while. After a year or so I started to get the codes possibly due to rear tires wearing faster than the fronts due to torque and the stagger getting smaller. I just ordered 255/40-17 and 295/35-18 tires in the same make and model as I had prior (Continental Extreme Sport 02). I’m curious from others that went to this size tire up front as to whether they are getting EBCM codes or if they had before like me, did they go away with the 255/40-17 tires installed.
Thanks in advance and save the wave.🇺🇸

I run exact size and tire and no codes on my 02 Z06.

I've run both set ups you stated. I did start getting codes towards the end of life with the 275 fronts. The 255 / 295 combo never did and I continue to run the combo. I have Continental DWS06 tires. The 255 size provides better tip in feel and doesn't seem to roll as much in turns. I think you'll be happier with the 255s

Lots of folks run a square setup (18x10.5) on all four corners, along with four identically sized tires without any issues, whatsoever. Less stagger front to rear is unlikely to be the root cause of your codes.

Well I did get my new Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires, but I am still getting c1214 code. So I guess I will send it off to ABS Fixer for repair. I am however suddenly getting a bad whine from the new tires. I have had absolutely no whine before. Has anyone else experienced this with new tires or with the new version of Continental Extreme Contact Sport? Thanks in advance and save the wave!

I ran Michelin PS2s, 315-30-18s on the rear of my 2000 C5, with standard 245-45-17s on the front, for many years. I never got any codes, even when the rears went to the tread wear bars. 315-30-18s are only 25.5" in diameter when new. Strange how some get codes, and some do not....
