Don’t forget about the 352 (minus breakage) SWZ owners. The only “Unicorn” of the C5 Run. Apples to apples SWZs are and will remain at the top of the C5 food chain
really? It’s just another white corvette and doesn’t belong in the same sentence with the commemorative edition
gold doesn’t look good. Neither does fairway or purple pearl so I’ll stop you there. There aren't many (any?) buyers actively looking for those cars.
a 218mile SWZ was a no sale at 60k. Do you have any data to support a CE ever been bid/bought at $13k over the original MSRP?
the CE is not my cup of tea but I don’t have any hate for it… I just think 10 years from now the SWZ will be the top dog of the C5 generation… just my .02… 🍻
and youre not paying attention if you don’t think there isnt demand for SWZs
I am on this guys side here (oh three z)… I can’t vouch for the “why” but he is right…. ‘01 speedway white Z’s are the pinnacle of C5’s excluding the serial number 001 and Aztec golds I suppose. I frequently see the Commemorative Edition cars for sale bringing equal or slightly more than equivalent mile non Z16 Z’s, but you will always see the Speedway White Z’s carry a significant premium over equivalent mile 01 Z’s in any other color. Again I cannot explain why this is the case as the 01’s obviously have some disadvantages over the 02-04 Z’s. I am personally not a huge fan of the stripes and polished wheels on the commemorative edition, but final year and carbon fiber hood are pretty cool traits.
A Quick Look around the SWZ cars are about the same as the Lemans cars. Low miles like 4K mikes will get to low $40k range but 60k miles will drop you yo $26k on the SWZ.
The $60k car was just two guys bidding that had no real idea they were over valuing. Who ever won over paid too much.
No C5 is worth $60k. Maybe the actual track used pace car from Indy may be worth that.
We have derailed the OPs thread and for my part in that I apologize. CEs and more specifically LeMans blue is a great color. To the OP good luck with your search.
Thanks for all the posts and information. Still deciding what direction I will take but leaning away from a Lemans and towards a red 2003 or 2004. Forum members great information as always.
Definitely hold out for what you want unless you absolutely have to have one soon.
There was a 2003 Z06 with 20k miles for sale at a Lexus dealer near me 2 years ago that was listed for $31k and sold in less than a week so I am confident they got exactly what they were asking for it. Granted that was 2 years ago.
Speedway White Z06
Only available in 2001 and only 352 of them made.
I personally don't care if something is "unicorn" but some people do. If I were getting a C5Z I would not want a 2001 - I don't care if it's a "rare" color. A Speedway White C5 is not rare at all. Only someone who would be able to spot a 2001 C5Z in white is going to give a crap about it. Even your common Corvette owner isn't going to know / care about it, and you are probably going to pay a ton of extra money for it.

Nothing inherently wrong with them.
They are just 385HP instead of 405HP. Just personal preference if I were going for a Z might as well get the "more powerful" one.
I think there were a couple other smaller differences but nothing too big of a deal.
