I was in Michigan recently, a friend informed me about a wrecked Z06 a mutual friend picked up at auction. It is a 2002 with 64,000 hit pretty good in the passenger front wheel area. The suspension on that side is toast, door, fender, hood, fascia all damaged and most likely the computer and whatever else is in that area under and around the battery. The rest seems to be undamaged, it was driving when hit. It would be a parts car only as the title is wonky as well. The current owner says he wants 10K for it which I think is a bit steep, what would the guru's here think is a fair price?
It's worth maybe 15k repaired? 10k seems high. If its a few suspension components and body panel it might not be horrible, but you'd want to check the frame and other stuff in that area. Just for parts, nonrepairable that sounds like way too much.

I bought a 2004 Z06 last month that was a Total Loss from the insurance, but had a clean title. It is registered and insured already.
I paid $7,500 for it (excluding shipping cost). Link is below. It is going to be my DD once I get the new support and shrouds. I have the bumper and lights already.
$10k for a C5Z parts car is absurd. 2008+ C6Z parts car with an intact drivetrain could pull $10k+, but not a C5.

... and it's going to take a whole lot more than $5k to repair it.
If you were going to part it out, you might recoup your money, but I would pass.
You have to figure your labor and value loss having an amended title. $7k max and you still may have more in it than it is worth. Just factor the paint alone.
C5 models in good shape and low miles are too easy to buy to make fixing one a winning deal.
Way overvalued for a parts car!! Being hit that hard could've damaged the engine, as well. I once bought a 4 cylinder Grand Am that was hit in the front, then repaired. It was never totaled, but the engine had a crack in the oil galley that only opened up and leaked after it completely warmed up. You'd be $$$$$ ahead to buy a base C5, and mod that car, if you want Z06 power. That or buy a reasonably priced Z06.....
Friend thought I would be interested because I do have a 2K A4. I may have mentioned a 6 speed would be nice though I would buy a complete factory 6 speed instead. My coupe was inherited from dad, it will never be replaced.
