Default How Cool is C5?

Owned my first almost 2 yrs., 2000 Green Vert, AM Chrome Wheels.

Drive a lot, too much fun not too. (Dear Lord, any more HP, danger! Shopping c6, c7 though)

I love because it looks like a Corvette!!!

Kids, omg. Driving the old baby out of Carlisle, saw a little girl waving, saying, "HI CORVETTE!" (Brought me to literally tears!)

I was feeling a little bad for my precious after seeing every fancy thing...
I love my car so much, no mods, but loaded. I just feel I want to keep this exactly as ordered/built.

Just last week random on the sidewalk, mom and dad pointing, kids waving. Gave a flex rev. They liked!

Yesterday, lady talked over "Pretty Car, So pretty'.

I love it, Pretty much every time i stop, get a chit chat.

So, I think C5 is still ESPECIALLY cool. Sexy lines forever... Easily Identifiable. And headlights, duh!

Thoughts, stories, experiences?

I have been looking for a while to get a new corvette. I just want a new toy. What keeps me from wanting to get rid of my C5 is just how easy it is to work on, how comfortable it is on a long road trip and those gosh darn flip-up headlights, I love them. It's both modern and classic at the same time.

I get enough looks at mine when I drive on the street, but it also has a full race livery on it. Its kinda funny to see people do a double take when you pull up next to them at a stop light.

It's been discussed a lot recently, but the C5 is arguably more popular and relevant now than it has been and will continue to hold its place in history.

I really do not find they are more popular. But I do find the fall off of popularity never really happened.

You look at the C3-C4 and they have aged and they have their fan base but it has declined over the years.

The C5-6-7 are like the Chevy TRI 5 cars 55-56-57. They were all based on the same car but with mods each year. All three are still popular and the 55 Still may be the most popular even if it was the least advanced.

I expect that the 5-7 will hold its own place in the Corvette history and all three will remain joined as a group. They will not age as badly as they were just that good of a car vs the past models. I love all c years but we all have to admit that they had their shortcomings in the past. The C1 just never got the development it needed. The C2 was an advancement. Then the C3 was cool looking but still a C2 under the skin. The C4 was advanced but mistakes were made and it did not age well.

The C5 Fixed those issues and then some.

The styling on the C5 is a bit of the past yet a bit of the future. I have said it is the link car for the past and the future Corvettes. It was when it really became respectable and yet still held some keys to the past styling. Even now there is no lower profile nose even on the C8.

When the neighbours wave at you as you cruise by, you know your Vette still has a lot of appeal. I've only had my Vette for 2.5 years, I love driving it and working on it and it is totally stock.

I don't know how cool it is. I have been using it as my daily driver for the last week while waiting on Jeep parts, which is my usual daily ride. Maybe it is the Magnetic Red that really pops in the sun, I had three people comment on it. One older woman called it beautiful, a younger woman said it looked "very sexy" and a young man said it was "sick" which I guess is good..

It’s all just chance as to what attention a C5 will get. My wife’s is a beautiful 02 triple black convertible, I drive a just as nice 75 triple black convertible C3. We travel most places together, each in our own car. . With out fail 99% of the time my C3 gets all the attention. It really doesn’t matter though, they are all great fun to get out and enjoy..

Yes, the C5 has continued to be a popular generation of Corvette. As time goes by we will learn whether the C5 will go down as a classic - my guess is it will.

I have an 81 C3 as well as my C5. The attention that 81 gets is crazy from young and old. I guess you just don't see many of them anymore.

I was a kid when the C5 came out. Always wanted one and I was able to get one last year. Some of us younger people that couldn’t buy a C5 when we were 10 are going out and getting one now. The C5 has a special sense of nostalgia for me that no other car can replicate.

When I set out to buy a C5 I wasn’t really thinking about whether or not it was cool. To me the Corvette is less about a car and more about people. And the time and place I was with those people. Maybe that’s why the Corvette has been around since 1953.

That said, yes the C5 is awesome and cool!

I have had a 2010 GS and a 2013 Shelby GT500 among other cars and this C5 is by far my favorite ever.

As the C5 platform continues to age, I’m seeing less middle of the road C5s and only noticing either really well-kept/nicely modded C5s or the other end of the spectrum, beaten-down C5s. Saw a FB ad the other day for a 1999 C5. Exterior looked pretty good but the interior was absolutely beat to hell and the car only had 70K miles. I expect the trend to continue as every day there are less C5s on the roads.
