My C5 had a problem with a driver side headlight coming up. I was able to use the manual dial to raise it. While that was happening I found that the rubber cover over the dial was not there? Then using the dial to raise the light the very small piece of plastic broke off.... Can anyone help me with either what that part is called or a picture of it or a Part #? Thanks so much...
Thanks I know they are plastic gears but they are not the problem.... On the right side of the assembly is a rubber cap as well and under that cap is a **** that you can turn and it raises and lowers the headlight. the rubber caps are gone and the ***** have a plastic torx that lowers and raises them. The rubber cap and the ***** are the parts i'm looking for...
Thanks
Since your post said you had a problem with the headlight raising, if it still occurs after finding the parts you need, try disconnecting the headlight from the control module. Clean and make sure the connections are tight. That is what fixed my occasional headlight issue.
The manual **** on the top of the headlight motor is not individually replaceable. You will need a complete headlight motor. If your car is a late 2000 or newer the motor is less than $100 each. If it is an early car best price I have seen is about $400. This is on Amazon.

Gary,
Thanks so much that would explain not being able to find it individually! Really appreciate your jumping in!

I would add to all our friends...when the using the cap to manually raise the headlight, DON"T. Counterclockwise will raise the headlight and clockwise lower it but if it is alreadly down turning clockwise might break off the PLASTIC piece inside the cap Use a small torx after removing the cap. Works much better. it is crazy they use these small plastic parts even in the gears!
