I am guessing the car is going to be right around 700rwhp give or take?? I currently have HRE wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. It was tough getting traction at 500rwhp with these tires so I can say these are not going to work with the new set up. I have 245/45-17s and 275/40-18s on the car right now, that was based on the assumption the HRE's are to stock size. Then I got to thinking/hoping maybe the previous owner bumped up the wheel size and they went to a 9.5" - 10.5" set up instead of a 8.5" - 9.5". I will try to confirm this tomorrow. If I do have the 9.5/10.5 which would be like a ZO6 wheel, I would be stock 265/40/17 and 295/35/18. I would bump that sizing to 275/40/17 and 305/35/17. If I am stock 8.5/9.5 tire size would be 245/45-17s and 275/40-18s, this will be a little tougher size to find good tires. If I do have stock what are sizes I could bump up to??

I am looking at the Toyo R888R's, Nitto NT555R2, MT ET Street and MT Street R. I basically take the car out on weekends and run a few cars here and there usually from a roll. Other than that I will take it to work every now and then, that is 100 miles round trip. No track time or time at the dragstrip, purely a street car at this time. I don't want to add all this HP and not be able to use it, lol. Thanks for any input or if anyone has any suggestions on a tire I have not looked into, I am open to that as well.

 

You're going to definitely be needing some wheel and tire on the back of that. I've run a 305 NT01 on the street and been quite happy with them. I've used the same tire for standing mile racing and they're were decent. I personally don't care to run drag radials on the street as I don't like how they handle.

 

Well, I run 315F/R I understand you can get a 335 on the rear provided you have enough wheel for it. The amount of tire you can run depends a lot on the wheel width you pick. 10.5 are probably ideal in the 295-305 area. 11" 305-315. 315 in the front can rub a little bit at extreme lock. r888r are widely regards as a garbage tire from track guys. Not a drag racers so I can comment on the drag tires

You'll want something with a good warmup rating for street use.

 

I could not be happier with the M/T ET Streets on the back of my car. I run a 305/35/18 and I make 460/420.

 

Best traction is going to be with a drag tire, but if you want to enjoy your commute and any other time besides a straight line, I'd personally stay away from a drag tire and go with the R888R. I've run both, and for street driving and being able to take a corner, the drag tire was not fun at all. Anything besides a straight line and it felt like driving a Jeep with no sway bar. Not confidence inspiring at all around the speed limit, I had no desire to push it further or attempt any carving. It was 305/45/17, so sidewall was a bit taller than most people will run to be fair. But I'm back to R888Rs and I'm happy again.

Unfortunately, there's no magic tire that does it all; it's either great traction in a straight line with a lackluster overall driving experience or good traction with a good overall driving experience. Obviously neither should be used in the rain or snow, so they're all going to be a fair weather tire regardless for 95% of us.

i've enjoyed my RT615K+ in 275/35-18 & 295/40-18 putting down mid-600s hp/tq. they do pretty good for mostly driving around town & weekend mountain runs... plus occasional HPDE track days. i didn't want to go full-on NT01s with how much normal driving i do... and 140TW versions of the NT05s were next on the list (the warehouse kept sending me 2-4 yr-old sets), then i ended up with the Falkens.

if all i cared about was straight-line stuff, i'd get drag radials in the back.

I haven't looked into those. I'll be getting tires soon, I'll keep everyone posted.
