For those who changed their Bose Twidler in favor of a 3.5" speaker, what did you do for the +/- terminals being different, did you splice the harness or make an adapter? What do I need to get?
you're replacing the door twidlers with after market ones?
Cut off the terminals at the car. crimp on friction connectors (most speakers actually include them in the box).
They're called
Crutchfield has/had a kit for this. It has the right connectors to switch the polarity.
They used to, but now when you buy replacement speakers instead of the connectors they suggest buying a wirestripping tool and spade connectors. You may be able to get it if you can get a rep on chat, but why bother -- if you're swapping out the speakers, may as well do it right and permanently connect the right connectors.
I chatted with Crutchfield today, I am going to splice and crimp on new spades to the factory wiring. They also suggested that I get some baffles for the front speakers, which I am also ordering.

Did they suggest the foam baffles for the 3.5" 'twiddlers' or baffles for the 8.75" Bose woofers in the door ? Whose make of 'twiddlers' did you go for? Infinity on special, J&L, Kicker or Boss ?

I don't think there's any way to put baffflees on the "subwoffers" in the door.. they're about the thickness of a thick paper plate, and sit directly on the pack-of-cards sized "amp".
