Default Chrome Wheel Refinishing

I need to send a Chrome wheel out of NY for refinishing. Any good shops out there who can match the factory GM Chrome?
Curb rash & chrome repair.

Any state that allows Chrome work is fine. NY is liberal ****'s.

What wheels do you have. If they are the polished 5 spoke factory wheels they are not chrome. They are polished aluminum and clear coated. There are a number of shops that repair polished wheels. Check the web for your area.

Might search for a clean used one as it might be cheaper.

There is a chrome-like powder coat from Prismatic, that might be your best bet.

‘Note Chrome issues are national EPA. It all sucks.

Just look up rim repair in your area. There are shops all around.

If the rash is not real bad you can sand it out and coat it with clear. I have fixed a few this way.

Eliminating the use of Hexavalent chromium is a worldwide initiative. Damn those liberal ***** for not wanting poisoned water supplies!

Does it ever. Better than any other wheel product I have tried. It's a bit messy to apply, (has consistency of jelly) but oh so worth it. I apply it every six months or so.

Based on the above post, OP, look up 'Proformance Specialties'. They're located in New Rochelle, NY.

This stuff lasts. You put it on and nothing repels everything but it is easy to clean and protects. Dust is just a by product of pads and the only way to control it it to make it a lighter color vs dark black.

The polish only has one down side. You may want to use gloves or you will have Hulk Fingers. Yes it will stain your fingers green. Other than that I have found nothing that comes close to protection.

Be sure if you have clear coated wheels to use polish just as you would use on a painted car. This brings the shine. The green will seal and protect it. I use it inside and out on the wheels.

For 21 years Only Mothers Chrome polish have touched these wheels... the C5 chromed, alloy wheels... They're perfect, they're balanced, and don't crack, don't peel, don't leak...... Today's GM and new fangled big *** wheels they use could do with a little ( purhaps a lot) 🙄 materials help from them ol C5 days....you know, the strong *** wheels that continue rolling on down the road... with air in em... Seems as the latest GM designers "can't do wheels "... it seems. 😂🤣 Now that there is funny! 😁

Now don’t be confused. Do not use Chrome Polish. The kind you would use on a bumper. These are aluminum clear coat wheels use only wheel polish approved for clear coat wheels.

As for wheels today from GM had one issue since 2004 on my GTP Comp G wheels. They would peel chrome in 3 years. I went through several set under warranty. They were made by Prime for GM.

I have had 7 sets of GM wheels since then and other than my wife hitting a curb no issues. One set of 18”, 19” and the rest 20’”

Cheaper the car cheaper the wheels. Built to a price.

One set on my Terrain were 19” and the wheel was aluminum but the chrome outer was plastic chrome it held up well.

Chrome or clear coat. I always use what I use on the body of the car. The same polish. If you wouldn't use it on the body don't use on the wheels. These are after market chrome wheels that have been on this car for over 15 years. Nothing but Zanio polish

Now if you have the wheels like a Crager SS or a un coated chrome wheel like the cheap chrome truck wheels Chrome polish is fine. You may need it to remove rust.
