285/40/18 and 285/35/18 Tire Setup

285/40/18 and 285/35/18 Tire Setup
Hello everyone, does anyone have a picture of a C5 with this tire setup? 285/40/18 Rear and 285/35/18 Front.
Mathematically, this combo appears to be an appropriate potential solution for a tire sizing mistake on my base 1998 C5.
Cosmetically, I wonder if this combo looks visually appealing to me. I've seen plenty of discussion about these tire sizes, but haven't come across anyone with a picture of this particular combination.

It will look a bit odd with tall front tires and shorter rear.

Here is an idea of what the tires will look like.
how about a 255/40/18 front and 295/35/18 rear?

I have 285/35/18 all around. You shouldn't have any problems with a 285/40/18 on the back. These cars even come with a bigger rear tire from the factory. Looks? Well, they look black and round, like a tire should.

Contrary to popular opinion, there isn't a photo of very possible tire/wheel combo.

Thanks for adding the photos, good to hear from someone else with a square 18" setup. I didn't appreciate how balanced and "correct" these cars look with the factory 17/18 stagger sizes until I switched to this square setup (which I do not like visually), so I'm planning to get back to the original front/rear proportion the best I can by careful choice of tire size on the 18" wheels I currently have.

Yes, I already confirmed the dimensions and fitment, that is of no concern. It's the visual appeal, the front-to-rear proportion that I discovered is easy to make ugly on these cars once you get away from the staggered wheels. Only a photo will answer that for me. If nothing turns up, that is ok, I will mock it up myself, or maybe even a makeshift software tool to overlay any tire/wheel size on a C5 side profile.

This is a 285/40/18 rear and 275/40/17 front.
I tried to keep the stagger close but with tires that were a bit taller. I wanted to avoid lowering the car but fill the wheel wells. It scrapes enough now.
At least that is how the rear will look.
Use the calculator to get your dims.
Also note the wider tires on front will reduce some on center feel. That was the warning from some of the Goodyear engineers that did the Z06 set up. I noted it when I went larger. I have a friend that is a retired Goodyear engineer.

Well I do duty for the Pro Football Hall of Fame activites and the extra clearance can be needed. Here is last year's ride Line Backer Dave Robinson of the Green Bay Packers. You don't get coach Tony Dungy every year.
Lower is nice but the road around here and big players limit things a bit. They are installing more speed bumps and speed tables that can be a problem. I'm not going to scrap just for an extra inch of vanity.

I’m curious to know what tires you’re finding in those exact sizes.
I’m currently running 265/35-18 F and 295/35-18 R as my track setup. I like the look and fit, but my front wheels are 1” narrower than my rears.

Not a square fan, either, unless it's a racecar. My new wheels are 18x9.5 fronts and 19x11 rears. Tires will be 265/35/18 fronts and 325/30/19 rears.

Nitto NT555 G2, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, General G-Max RS are the three options I'm seeing available to me.

Toyo Proxes Sport are available in both sizes, though the rears are back-ordered at the moment.
Tire manufacturers are really proud of their 295/35/18's, price-wise.

I end up being blind to some tire availability because I only looked for either extreme performance summer tires to use as track tires or ultra high performance all season tires to use everywhere else. I don’t have a use case for mid and slightly upper tier summer tires.

check out my pics in my garage folder. My setup is a 295/35/18 rear and 275/35/18 front with Michelin Pilot Sport

Here is my mockup. This exercise proved to me that using the same size wheels front and rear makes the car look like a penny farthing and adjusting sidewall heights doesn't fix it (for me). I can't unsee it.
I will probably abandon this idea and figure out a 17/18 staggered wheel setup.
