Going to install an aa si supercharger on my 2003 z06 any recommendations on a cam, car is only my weekend ride and I don’t want something to aggressive, but something that would compliment the supercharger, can anyone chime in thanks!!
I just dropped off my 2004 A4 convertible at the performance shop on Monday for my A&A SC installation. The original build was for the AA kit, an upgrade from my 3.15 rears gears to the 3.42 rear gears, and a set of Kooks green LT headers in addition to a new balancer and other related performance improving parts. When I originally dropped the car off in March, they realized the engine ticking was a result of a bad lifter, so we stopped and ordered a new Johnson Race lifter set as well as a new cam considering they would have to go into the engine to repair and replace the bad lifter and original cam.
Since it's a convertible that I don't track or run on the drag strip, I didn't want a real heavy chop and I wanted something with good street manners that would work well with the A&A kit. As a result, we're going with the Texas Speed custom grind Stage 1 225/236 centrifugal camshaft as it's the largest cam they recommend for anyone running the factory torque converter with either the A4 or M6 wanting maximum street ability and matching up a SC kit. It's operating range is 1600-6800 RPM with a power increase of 65HP. Since I'm adding the SC, I wasn't really too concerned over the HP numbers, more about a good, strong idle that matches up with the SC and the new headers. Plus looking into the future, if I ever need to upgrade the stock trans and converter, the cam will still match up.
You may not have the same objectives as my build, but I will find out in about 3 weeks if we made the right choice for my car.
what shop did you use and what price did they give you ? im going to be installing a supercharger, headers , cam and harmonic balancer at one time
I'm working with Powertech Performance in St. Pete as they were recommended by the guys at A&A and RPM. They have a FB page with other build pics, etc.
