I just purchased a 02 Z06 with 59k miles, about a month in the clutch is losing fluid not from the master cylinder I checked the firewall, both sides and all hoses I can reach, then today the pedal stuck near the bottom and I finally saw a puddle of dot3 under the car middle of the car about a foot back from the engine
so I need a clutch done on my new vette does anyone know of a good reputable vette mechanic in huntsville alabama... aint no way im going to a non vette mechanic can anyone suggest a good local vette mechanic my new baby needs a clutch
That sucks! Did you do a pre buy inspection? Suggest contacting the local Corvette Club for recommendations.
I bought the car 2 hours away I did the best I could, the car was pulling zero codes and the clutch felt perfect on the test drive 🤷♂️ it's a little disappointing but it is what it is, once it's fixed it'll be babied
Some months ago, Lyle at C&S corvettes was asking for public input into good service locations. He was saying that he would put together and publish a list, though I have never seen a results video or posting. I'd suggest shooting Lyle an email, and see if he has had input for the Huntsville area.
As to the seal failure, I would tend to believe the seller may not have noted an issue, and probably not driving the car nearly as much or as often as in days gone by. You, as a new Z06 owner have been driving your Z06. Many more clutch cycles on very aged seals -- very likely with nary a fluid change in the 20 years of operation. At 59K the disc is probably quite good, but obviously when one drops the entire drive train they tend to change all the consumables.

Sorry to hear of the clutch problem. Good luck finding a competent tech to work on the car - you may want to post in the Southeast Regional section of the forum and see if you get any recommendations.
I have 52,000 on my 2001C-5 and recently had my clutch pedal stuck half way. The Corvette mechanic said it could just be the slave master cylinder in the clutch housing that needs replacing and he would also install a clutch return spring. Hopefully that is all it is as he said the friction pad should still have plenty of life on it if it wasn't driven hard.
I have dropped it off at Smoke Johnson customs in huntsville and am eagerly awaiting its return, getting a ls7 clutch put in amd a one man remote bleeder, hopefully i get it back before vacation and can take it on a road trip with a quick stop in Kentucky at the corvette Museum

The problem is that it's 10.5 man-hours to get to that slave cylinder in the clutch housing. The master is on the firewall, and much less time and money to access, but I don't recall many clutch issues that ended up resolved with the master. With the slave it's well over a grand, probably closer to two now-a-days, making it sometimes seem money ahead to replace any wear items in there. Regardless, if you drop the drive train, by all means add a remote bleeder while you are in there. Very poor manufacturer's decision to not have access.
Got the Z06 back from Smoke Johnson customs in huntsville
still in the break in period of the clutch but it's shifting smoothly, pedal was super stiff when I picked it up but has gotten a little easier in the first 125 city miles.
Dude did a great job and ill be taking my car back to him 100%
