Trying to understand the double Din replacement dash.
Sometimes I see them with the cup holder cap and sometime I don’t see it.

these are the options of dash replacements I am seeing:
Vettenuts- very pricey, is it worth it?
Metra- better price, how’s the quality, fitting, color?
Amazon special- cheap, but you have to do your own color

did either the metra or the vettenuts dash come with the cup holder cover like the oem dash does? Or do you just remove your oem cup holder cover and put it on the aftermarket one?

Yes. The Vettenuts bezel includes the cup holder lid and lower flip lid if you want the OEM look. I had mine custom hydro finished. Another benefit of the Vettenuts bezel is that it has additional side support arms to help keep the bezel tight against the center console.
Metra doesn’t have either drink holder lid nor ash tray. Vettenuts is much more money but has very good (not perfect) texture and color. Some say the Metra cup holder works better. It’s been a while, but Vettenuts has put their’s on sale once or twice.
The Vettenuts unit requires removal of the O.E. radio shelf, but the HVAC controller stays in the same place. I don’t know about the shelf with the Metra, but understand that the HVAC controller relocates slightly.
Metra that I painted. The Metra does not have a lid for the cup holder and the cup holder itself is kind of shallow. There are 4 bolts that hold it to the bottom of the bezel if you wanted or can make something custom.
