So with the post tornado repairs almost complete on my house I decided to sell my C5 vert to make the move to Florida simpler. With what I'll make from the home sale will easily put me in a nice C6 Z so I won't be vetless long. So I placed an ad on craigslist. Very detailed description and with tons of pics. I get a "bite" in just 2 hours. Had a nice back and forth with the guy. He wanted a report from an auto history website; kind of like Carfax. I went to the website, paid the 22 dollar fee and sent him a copy. Haven't heard back from him since. Then I get 4 more similar inquiries that all went the same direction. They all wanted a copy of a report and they used different websites. I may be slow but I'm not stupid so I told each one that I would gladly send them a copy of the report.........with the VIN number redacted.........Haven't heard back since.
I just bought our Y2K C5 from a Craigslist ad because I'm not on FB. I requested a copy of the vin history report from the seller, which he happily provided.

Watch your credit card for unauthorized charges. You just gave all the relevant information to an organized gang of scammers.
I'd at least be changing my credit card number ASAP.
For future reference, any interested buyer is welcome to run their own check with their own money.

Not really. I paid with a third party app that is not linked to my bank account. My only concern is that first scammer using my VIN to get a duplicate and slap on a car headed to Mexico.
That is a very common scam - very prevalent on cycletrader. Never go to those sites and enter any payment info - it's all a scam and they are not buyers.
if a seller blocked the vin on a requested cardax, the last they'd hear from me!![/QUOTE]
A carfax request is one thing. That's a well established site but they all gave me addresses to sites that in one case was blocked by my computer as fraudulent.
Good luck getting it resolved. I stopped using Craiglist years ago due to scammers contacting me within 15 minutes of the post, regardless of what the item was, with the fake hold check scam. Too many online lowlifes who view these type of scams as victimless crimes.
Perhaps list the C5 here on Corvette Forum before going full public.

I do have it listed here in the C5 section. It's not a panic sale so if it doesn't sell no big deal....
