What does one do with a low mileage example of a fairly common car? Is it worth $27k because it has low miles? Does the new owner have to keep the miles down to “preserve the value”?

I would say the low miles helped with the price paid. Obviously the more miles that the new owner puts on the car will affect the future value, but that is not the only factor that comes into play. The car’s condition, options, used car market, etc. will determine a fair price.

One thing you might do with it is drive it. There is a serious amount of difference between a very low milage example like this one and a high mileage ragged out version. It is basically a cheap car for what it is with a lot of miles left and much of the depreciation already done.

If you think of it as an investment, park it and look at it which makes a lot of people happy. While it might not pay a big return for several years it is also not going to lose value.
