I’m posting this in the general area because when I go to the ‘Scan and Tune’ section, I’m too much of a novice. I acquired my C5 2003 Anniversary edition as a rescue. It had been neglected and needed new upholstery, top, transmission and other odds and ends. Over time I got. It back to ’20 footer’ status, and began enjoying it. The major complaint I had was the 4L60 automatic. I had seen some posts about Corvettes of Westchester and Chuck COW’s ability to tune the engine and automatic transmission to make Corvettes more fun to drive. I contacted Chuck Mosello and we discussed my goals and how he might be able to help me. So I took the plunge and soon had a loaner EFI AutoCal device in my possession. This device hooks up to the OBD port, and downloards data to/from a PC. Chuck sent me a new tune that raised the Vette’s shift points depending on how much throttle was applied, and also got a little more SOTP horsepower out of the engine. I sent back log files based on driving the car after installing the tune and we repeated the process a few times until I was totally satisfied with the car’s performance. During this time, Chuck picked up stakes and moved his business to Pompano Beach, and it is now ‘Corvettes of South Florida.’ This caused a few hiccups in the tuning process, but I was never unable to drive my car. If your LS powered C5 is not giving you the exhilarating experience you expect from a Corvette, you might give Chuck a call and see if he can help you like he helped me.
I had a shop do 3.73 gears and 3200 stall. Mission accomplished as far Wow factor. So far, my best 1/8 mile on street tires is 8.0 @ 87mph. I haven’t tried my nitto drag radials yet, would love to see a 7.8 or 7.9 1/8 mile.
