I was considering lowering the Z. How much should it be lowered? I was told GM actually says to lower it 7/8's of an inch, correct? I know I dont want to lower it more than 1inch- its low enough as it is. I was hoping that it would take away some of the wheel hop.
SG,
GM recommends if you lower the car, not to exceed 15mm. That is about 5/8 of an inch. Most of us who lower go lower than that.
I suggest you lower the car about 3/4" at all 4 corners and see how you like it after a few days of driving. Then adjust from there, up or down.
If you like the rake of the car, that is the height of the rear of the car compared to the front, then lower all corners an equal amount. I think turning each bolt about 10 threads will get you to 3/4".
3/4" may be all you will get in the front anyway.
GM recommends keeping the side to side changes the same, although many of us, including me, have not.
I would wait 50 miles or so after you are happy with the height, to align the car. Do not skip this step!
You also have to figure in the weight of fuel which will change the rear height 3/16" between full and empty.

Is there anything wrong with lowering the front or rear more than the other? I was thinking about lowering the front 3/4 and the rear 1 inch. Would that look bad. I think the rear needs to be a little lower than it is now- just my opinion.
SG,
You have mail.
I did just that with mine. I lowered the rear 1/4" more than the front. That is the look I was after.
3/4 front and 1" rear is usually the max anyone gets out of lowering with stock bolt adjustments.
Dave
You might THINK you're going to drop the car and inch or more, but the Z06 simply doesn't lower very much without bushing cutting (front) or longer bolts (rear). Nor did my 2000 FRC....both have Z51 suspension, of course.
I lowered my Z as much as the stock adjusters would allow. Front dropped 3/8th, rear dropped 3/4. Period. And it seemed very high when I got the car....like a John Deere tractor!! You could put your fist vertically between the tire and the fender lip!!
