Default Seat Replacement Options

What are C5Z drivers doing for replacement seats?

Just got back from 60 minute drive and the seats are starting to feel and look dumpy

I could get these redone, but I have seen some great looking C5 interiors and would like to update mine

What I am looking for, comfy, adjustable-that includes seat back - do occasional autox, does not need to be power (manual adjustments) easy install

If you are in California and have a set, we can talk

Thanks

Thanks, I have a yellow Z, not ready to do the ketchup and mustard color scheme

Gotta pass, thanks for opening the door to C7

Cheers

I’m still on stock seats as well. Like the C7 seats. Problem is finding a pair that look near perfect condition and pulling the trigger on them. Otherwise search corbeau, braum, sparco, and actually I heard c8 seats fit on stock c5 brackets with just some minor adjustments.

I have seen a few owners adapt C7 seats to the C5. I can say after having owned 3 C5s and now a C7, the C7 seats are much more comfortable. Post up a WTB thread in the C7 Parts for Sale section and be sure to specify just what you are looking for, especially the color of the seats.

C7 seats are pretty common it seems. Of course since the Z06 came with a manual passenger seat you would have to run power over to the passenger side. I've gotten the impression that C7 seats might not go low enough in the C5 for taller drivers... which is a concern for me @ 6' 3".

For several years now my C5Z has had an Amazon special sport/racing seat with Cipher seat bracket, though I haven't swapped out the passenger seat yet. This seat option has good bolstering that isn't excessive for easy ingress/egress, and even with sliders it sits lower than my stock power seat did. I did have to switch over to a C6 seat belt, though.

I am also 6’3” and recently put c7 seats in my 02 c5z. Lack of headroom was a concern of mine before doing the swap, but luckily it didn’t end up being an issue. I’d say the loss in head room is equivalent of having a 99-02 frc/z06 headliner vs. an 03/04 z06 headliner (which has more pronounced curvature that slightly reduces headroom).

For me personally, I like the C5 sport seat design, but after 20+ years the foam is just shot from age and miles. I just bought new C5 seat covers and foam that I am installing tomorrow along with some upgrades to help support the seats and foam, we will see.

Good to know, thanks for sharing! For taller drivers with later Z06 I wonder how headroom would be with C7 seats.

Just to throw it out there, the Z06 had standard (not sport) seats. Perhaps OP could swap in refreshed sport seats, though.

Before I went with aftermarket seats I completely rebuilt my stock Z06 driver seat. New foam, rebuilt all the power track stuff, increased bolstering (more foam in the bolster areas), jute pad on the seat bottom, etc. After all that I sat way too high! Taking out the jute pad helped but I still wanted to sit lower. Even tried a modified passenger seat track but that sits higher than power seat track.

I struggled with this and also with allowing myself much budget for the project. Ended up scoring a pair of seats from a 2011 car, these are LT4 trim so they look pretty spiffy and have other appointments Im not using.

I ended up spending around $1k with the seats and swap harness. While being pretty happy, if I could do it over again I would have went 2012+ C6 seats or C7 seats and spent a little more money. But, the C6 seats are super comfy and the outboard airbag makes for a big bolster that gives a lot more support than I'd had before.
