I purchased an '03 M6 roadster with under 21,000 miles one year ago. It is a later '03, so it has the 2004 FFS fuel system. Excluding the preventative maintenance items (harmonic balancer, fluids, tires, shocks, headlight bulbs), failures include: clutch slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, A/C compressor, fuel pump, headlight motor, and fuel door release servo. And it is totally worth every penny.

A good point is this. The car is 20 years old. It will need up keep even with low miles. Things dry out and age. When you first get it you may have some repairs. Low miles depending how it was stored can be as harsh as high miles if it was not driven for long periods.

You will find this on most any Corvette and most used cars.

We had a very low mile 10th anniversary TA that was in great shape but the Radiator was shot. Master cylinder needed replaces and tires were cracked. It had some other minor issues that we had to address before it was sold for the customer because he never did anything to it. He just left it sit. It had crap piled on it and the paint needed detailed.

No matter what miles you buy you need to factor in some work that will be needed no matter what. One you get it done you will have a great car and only see a few things pop up once in a while.

If you do you own work it is all the better. The people that get killed in some of these deals are those who have to pay others to do the work.

Even cars like a Ferrari can be affordable the buy labor and required maintenance can be a killer. The 30K mile maintenance often kills a Ferrari owners dream., Pulling an engine to change timing belts that will break if you skip it is a nightmare for some.
