Default Paint Buffing Advice

Hello,
I am looking at a C5 to purchase and noticed this scratch on it. I would definitely appreciate opinions from people experienced in paint detailing as to whether this could be buffed out by myself or it would need professional care? If the latter, how much would that run me? What could have been the cause?
Thanks!

Hard to see on the web but it looks like surface damage.

Can you feel it with your nail like a grove?

I think a light cleaner polish would remove it. If not it may make much go away.

A competent Detailer with Paint experience can make that Undetecable on black

Requires 2component single stage u41 color. 2000 block 3000 5000 polish

and again, Competence

Done it many times…. Black is your Friend

Hard to tell based on the photo. From here it looks like its a mark on top of the paint. If that's the case it should buff out. If it's through the clear coat and paint it would require more to repair. There are a number of scratch repair kits available. It might not make it perfect but you'll probably be satisfied with the result unless you're looking for a show car. Both my C5 and C6 are nearly perfect but not flawless. I've repaired small imperfections and they are hardly noticeable. I want a nice car but I'm not looking for a show car.

Start simple. Use a polish or cleaner polish not a wax. This will likely clean it up.

You can step it up later if needed.

I have fixed much worse with just a little compound and polish.

It looks like white paint on your black. Looks like paint from a door frame.

A professional fixit guy is best option.... But perhaps toach up paint obtained from GM and a steady hand?
Sometimes it's paint transfer from what you hit or what hit you!
