Does anyone know where I can get a C5 Clutch Return Spring (Part #10376347) as they are now discontinued, or does anyone know an equivalent part number that will work? I am in Sudbury, Ontario Canada.
You talkin' about the kind of U shaped spring? If so, that's not a return spring, it's there to "assist" pushing in the clutch and keeping the pedal at the top of it's travel. Mine broke in 2009 or so and I haven't replaced it.
The clutch return spring in my 2003 Corvette failed yesterday. Looks like its part number 12555205. Can't find it anywhere. Any tips?
At the same time, the (solid) check engine light also came on and the car will no longer start. I feel like it has to be related to the spring, but I don't understand how it could be since there are threads on here about people removing their springs on purpose.
Not sure why, but the 2004 C5 and the C6 used a different spring p/n 10376347. I personally do not know if you can use these spring in place of the '97-03 unit.
I have the 12555205 spring in my 2007 since it was new. it is not reccomende for racing but for every day driving it's great. It just doesn't engage the clutch fast enough for speed shifting. The stock one was too stiff so i changed it
After doing more reach on these clutch pedal assist springs, it seems the the C5 spring was a popular swap for the C6 folks. They did not like the clutch pedal feel with the stock C6 assist spring so a lot of them backdated to the C5 spring, which may have contributed to the fact that the C5 spring is now out of stock, discontinued and hard to find.
If you just Google this you will find a number of places that have these. Even Amazon.
Yes the C5 is lower tension than the C6 and many swap but avail on both are the same. They will interchange. I just did one a few months ago on a C6.
I would recommend running the spring to make sure the clutch is not slipped and often including the car I just put the spring on was smoother and quieter. The C6 was making noise and the pedal felt like something was wrong with vibration.
