Default Help! Throttle body replacement.

Hello everyone.

A couple weeks ago I reached out to this forum because I was having issues with my C5 Corvette. I was getting a reduced engine power notification and not driving the car. I reached out to the forum and deduced that it was a problem that could have had many solutions. However, when I took it to a mechanic yesterday, I found that it just needs a new throttlebody. Only problem is I'm not sure which one I need to get. I've heard a lot of people are upgrading to LS two throttle bodies, but I'm also getting various results when I put in what I think is the stock number for the part. Have any of you guys done this replacement before, and found a throttlebody you guys really like? Of course, I always like to save money, but if I need to spend a little extra for quality, I'm willing to do it.

thanks in advance.

If your engine is stock just buy another OEM bone stock LS1 or LS6 throttle body. They are exactly the same.

They average around 150 dollars for a good condition used one.

What code or codes were you getting REP.

I had them in a previous thread, but it was just the three classic codes that come with reduced engine power. I'm cammed and dump tuned as far as power mods go. And then I have a pretty big cold air intake.

But are you are running a 3 bolt throttle body intake manifold? If so just get another stock TB.

If you are cam swapped there could be some power to be had going to a FAST 92 and an LS2/3 throttle body.

One fix is 150 bucks.

The other make more power modified fix is 1400 lol.

If you go to a LS2 throttle body only use the early silver color LS2 TB
The later ones wont work for you.
Good luck

This is not true but keeps being perpetuated as such.

I ran a gold blade LS3 throttle body on my car for a couple years. You do need HP tuners though to make it work.

That being said, even if you are going to a FAST and a Silver Blade LS2 throttle body you really should have it tuned anyways.

This. Or your not going to get the hp out of the new parts that you added. So that another 400 to 600 bucks 4 tune

OP still hasn't said what intake manifold he has so I'm going to assume stock?

A few months ago there were a couple nice C5 throttle bodies on fleabay for good prices.

Regardless, at least there is options to get his car fixed.

sorry I've done a lot of reading and not a lot of posting. Stock intake manifold. Don't wanna mess with tuning or anything just want a quality part. If anyone has a link to a good deal or one I could get in a couple days, that would be awesome.

I dont doubt your experience. Mine a later LS2 or 3 and know luck with a tune and
performance. I run a MSD intake.
