Ashtray door stays open - is that normal?

Ashtray door stays open - is that normal?
So my recently purchased C5 was missing the ashtray. I bought one on ebay and it fits well but the door remains open at all times. I can close the compartment housing the ashtray and lighter but the ashtray door pushes the compartment cover open a tad. Is that normal?

When the compartment door was closed on mine, the ashtray door was closed too and did not push the compartment door open.

It's kind of a "pet-peve" with me, the entire car is plastic, but I hated the cheap plastic kind of sound it made, I've tried all sorts of things, I presently am using a tailoted felt kind od little pads and it works presently so-so. It makes the sound when you open the ash tray door and the ash-tray lid hits the outside cover. But it is not "News" that the C5 had a Little less than a prize in the interior department.
