I did a lot of research before purchasing my 8th and 9th Corvette. Both are 2002 and I am surprised to see that year on the list. So far only routine maintenance necessary for me.
List like this are very miss leading. Cars in the 90’s and later everything gets reported. Now you know the older cars would have 4 times the issues.
The years you can get the best service is 01-03. Many issues here are the same most years and some were isolated issues to a small part of production. Supplier issues most often.
Also often some of these complaints are registered by owners with no clue what is going on or something simple like a jammed CD player.
The key to the car is accept for the torque tube it is very simple to work on.
But even the c2-3 had rear end issues. Lose a main spring and it splits the rear housing. Not fun or cheap. Getting to some fuel tanks even more difficult.
Later cars are even burdened by more electronics that will fail with age and I just watched removing a C8 front bumper is difficult with lots of plastic parts that can break.

Yes, the C5 had its share of problems but overall, IMO it is a reliable and very fun car to drive. I had three C5s (99, 00, and 03) and got many miles of driving pleasure for each of them.
