I'm thinking of getting them. Has anyone added them to their '98? What do you think of the look and what would be a ballpark figure to purchase and have them applied?

Personally I like the look of them. I think it gives the C5 a more aggressive look. Reminds me a bit of the McLaren F1. Without them, I think the C5 looks a bit like the FD RX-7. Also I think they protect the doors against parking lot dings.

There are some people who also hate them based on the looks, but I'm indifferent to them since I'm the original owner and they were installed on the car when I bought it. Over the years, I thought about removing them, but I think they look good on certain colors like my MSG, and I like how the BSMs line up with my Caravaggio rear spoiler side spears. Again, looks are subjective so a nice member did this photoshop comparison for me earlier.
As to door dings, they will only protect the doors from damage from something that's really low to the ground. They won't even protect the doors from my C7Z which would hit the door up near the handle above the BSM like most other vehicles parked next to it.
I suggest the OP check the C5 parts for sale section or contact Vette Nuts or other vendors who may have some in stock but it might be tough getting a set in matching body color.
All my opinion: I don't dislike BSM's but it's definitely a cleaner look and at this point I think it looks more classic without them (car looks more vintage without, the BSM's can put a very new millennium age on the car).
I don't really have care either way. If I had them on mine I'd leave them on. I don't think they look bad. Course I'm also happy with my wagon wheels lol.
