My New Daily Driver!

Wife found this on Temu. I bought a filler but I like it this way.
I added the Stubby antenna, tail light grills and my Wife found the licenses plate frame on Temu.
Will probably be cleaning on this when the weather breaks.
I already have a few questions but I'll ask them later.
Thanks for looking,
Joe K

I’ve been daily driving corvettes for 28 years and I loved it.
no reason to save these cars in the garage.
better to use them. Your new rides sweet!
how many miles on that car and approximately what price range did you pick it up for?

Owners manual and warranty info with a nice case..
Has a notepad and that is a flashlight and it works.
I'm only 110 miles away. Great day trip. Not a tourist trap. Reasonable prices. Even if your not close, I would hope you are a member. Get discounts and a subscription to "America's Sports Car". A very informative magazine.
Pick this up off of Amazon. Not as scary as it looks. Very stable. I have plans for all the wires hanging. Here' s the link if you want to check it out.
At a Walmart near Ft. Knox. Driving her as much as I can.
Another angle. Awesome machine.
Thanks for looking,

That specific car from Oklahoma was my safety car when searching this winter. A great car for the money. Good catch. You knew what you were looking for.
What does she need? What are your plans for it?
If you have a goal in mind and seek guidance there are a bunch of us who are C5 addicts and can steer you in difference directions based on the parts we have run in the past.

I knew when I bought it that it needed a horn membrane. I just installed a horn kit so I could get it through state inspection. I have it where you really can't see anything. The button is under the dash dimmer control. I will probably repair it when the weather breaks. The drivers seat was repaired but I needed keys made and the locksmith decided to squeeze in to test the key so that was the end of that. I have a bungee cord carefully installed (hidden) that prevents 99% of the forward movement when braking. Will work on that too when it gets warmer. Last thing is she got thrashed on the back of the trailer that brought her from Oklahoma to Kentucky. Had SafeLite repair 3 starbursts in the windshield and there are quite a few paint chips in the hood. I haven't decided if or what I'm going to do with them. May try touching them up myself or check with a detail or paint shop. Pro tip is use an enclosed hauler. No fault of anyone just things that happen. Thankfully they are not that visible.
She will definitely be at the 1/8 mile drag strip as soon as possible. Drive Toward a Cure has a track day on the 11th of April at The Corvette Museums' Motorsports Park. I'm planning on attending that. Other that these things I really don't have any plans to do any major modifications. Just going to drive her as much as I can.
I know if I need anything this is the place. Thanks so much for your comment.

Seat wise... The factory C5 seats offer no support when driving aggressively. You can sell them as is for perhaps 350 to 400. Corbeau A4s pop up used frequently. As do C7 base seats which are far more comfortable, better built, and offer more support. They can be had for about 1500. Used Corbeaus might be 750 or a little more. But it beats buying parts and fixing seats which are in rough shape.
Drive it and enjoy. These cars are great fun. That Z51 suspension on the FRC is the best of all worlds for performance and comfort.

Thanks for the seat tips. I know every time I exit I'm careful about leaning on the seat back. Not a very sturdy setup. Will probably be one of the first upgrades I do.
They sure are fun to drive. Haven't driven a manual in years though I really haven't forgotten.anything. It has a skip shift eliminator, but when I'm driving it "normally" I usually go 1-4 then when I get to 40-45 mph I go to 6. I checked the owners manual and it says going to 6 at 50 is recommended. Do you think I'm doing anything wrong? Also the manual says to apply the brakes when coming to a stop then shift to neutral. What are your thoughts about that? I pressed the magic button for 5 seconds the last few times I've driven and competitive driving mode makes a big difference. I've just about watch and read everything so part of the enjoyment is trying all of the things I've learned.
Thanks again,
Joe K

What issue are you having with the seat back? If one side seems to be "broken" you may be able to fix it by resyncing the latches. To do so, put the seat base all the way back. Use the recline lever to rotate the seat back all the way forward. Also use the lever behind the seat back to do the same. It may take a couple of tries of moving the seat back through it's range of motion but the latches should sync up again. Simple fix if that is your issue. Also note that the seat backs in C5s have considerable about of play. The seatback can rotate about 5 inches at the headrest and that is normal.
As for shifting, 6th gear at 40 - 45 is a bit low. You're lugging the engine. 4th or 5th gear would be better. I don't use 6th until 55 - 60 on fairly level terrain. Don't be afraid of RPMs. These cars like them. (I have a 2003 Z06) As for neutral at a light, I don't leave my vehicle out of gear even when parked. It is a habit I learned from motorcycling that you always want power to move in an emergency. Also, park in gear with the emergency brake activated. Hopefully your cables aren't frozen up. C5s are notorious for having a poorly adjusted emergency brakes. Pull the rear wheels and adjust accordingly. Backing up or cycling the lever doesn't do anything.

I've stopped shifting early. Did seem to be lugging.
I do park in gear and thankfully the emergency brake works fine.
Thank you again.

Enjoy your new ride and the perfect color!
