The seals on my C5 vert leak when it rains. It seems to be the joint where the top and windshield seals meet. Also they don't seem to push out against the glass to force the water to move down the outside glass.
Any way to revive these? The don't look bad or rotted. Or do they have to be replaced $230?
There is a "window tip-in" adjustment that I think will put more pressure on the seal. But the procedure in my 2000 service manual only gives instructions how to perform the adjustment, not what it's actually for or how to tell when you have it adjusted properly.
I have the 1998 Coupe and it was having a little bit of a window seal problem after I replaced both window regulators (they were tired and fussy after 20+ years).
After trying the adjustments myself with limited results, I took mine to the local Safelite glass service center and offered to buy lunch for the staff if they would adjust both windows. 30 minutes later the windows were so well adjusted that a dollar bill would not slide front-to-back between the glass and the seal. $80 for staff lunches and I was a happy camper. Professionals know their craft. The seals work so well now I can now hear the slight rattle of the Targa Top lever fasteners on the front windshield frame.
