I have an automatic transmission on a 2000 c5 corvette. My auto shifter wont physically move all the way back to first gear shift selector but stops at 2nd. As if the cable is pulled too tense or something. Removing the console and slightly lifting up the whole shifter i can shift it back into first meaning my shifter mechanism isn't the problem. By lifting the shifter up i gave the cable more room to pull back but it won't do the same when the shifter is fully seated. I changed out the cable thinking it was an aftermarket one and is too short or something but that wasn't the case. The new cable still yeilds the same results and can't seem to figure out why it's causing my problems. I know the cable needs to go straight between the shifter and gear selector but seems to be directed upwards into the drive tunnel
View of gear selector. Blue tape around the cable foam thing. Wants to curve up and under the drive shaft.
How did you replace this cable?
Did you drop the tunnel cover or did you fish the cable through?
I know up by the shifter, maybe 10 inches down there is a bracket where the cable must be attached to for proper shifting.
Did you reattach the cable to this?
