I have been always riding on Goodyear Eagle run flats.
the price is so high now and some say we cannot get them now.
so I’m looking for a good non run flat.
need help in choosing Michelin? Goodyear? What?
im running stock size.
I’ve swapped out old run flats for Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus XL just over a year ago and have been happy with them. Got them from TireRack with a nice rebate.
There are nearly as many threads and opinions on tires as on oil and oil filters.
A big part of the decision process has to be deciding your priorities. I have to balance affordability with wet traction.
I’ve run Bridgestone and Continental so far. I did not care for the Bridgestones, but the Continentals have been fair. My next set, based on many reviews here on the forum, will be Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s.
And as txkk626 indicated, Tirerack is your friend.
You can use "Tire Rack" to research reviews on different brands and models but I'd still shop your choice around for best price. Your use will also make a difference, daily driver, track only, street racing, ... https://www.corvetteforum.com/how-to...dvan-apex-v601
Lots of options, but you didn't note your driving style, do you only drive on warm sunny days or on rainy days (I image the your car hibernates during the winter months in your neck of the woods), as well as budget constraints. My default recommendations without knowing all the details would be;
I believe he clearly denoted his driving style when he indicated his ongoing use of run flats. Car shows. Groceries. Spirited romps to 80 mph like a fetching rascal. And, egads, he once sped through light traffic from a stop light to get to the pizza shop on time.
Joking aside, their recommendations are good ones. Practically anything will be an upgrade from brickish run flats. I suggest all seasons.
I ran Conti DWS 06 + stock sizes while living in Florida, excellent tire to have when getting caught in the frequent pop up rain showers. When I changed wheels and sizes I went with a Nitto 555 G2, now living in Michigan pop up rain is much less likely and it does not get driven in the snow. Ever. I can highly recommend both those, I agree in your case the Conti DWS is probably the best choice.
I searched TireRack.com for Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S and got a "decent" (~$1200)price, plus mount/balance at a local shop.
stopped by Costco (i was already there) and they quoted ~$1800 OTD.
drove up to Discount Tire, they were under $1200 OTD with extra road hazard warranty. ordered and installed 2 days later.
When I bought my 03 convertible it still had the original Goodyear run-flats and after 20 years they were both hard as a rock, and very noisy. So after a lot of research I bought 4 General G-max and they are so nice and quiet, but again, they are Not run-Flats and are soft for summer cruise's, but they weren't expensive and I bought them through Amazon so they didn't cost to have them shipped to me. I keep a tire repair kit and a small compressor in the trunk.
I really like the combination of ride, handling and steering response of the Continentals on my wife's Turbo Regal for three season use, but I run Michelin Pilot Super Sports of one variety or another on the Corvette.
On my Wifes 2002 C5 we have Michelin pilot sport 4, great tire.
On my 1975 C3 I'm running General G Max. I like them better,, much quieter as well,, [[ both cars are convertibles and we detect the tire noise more than other humans ]]
I'll be useing Generals on the C5 next.

I just ordered Sumitomo HTR Z5, really good reviews on everything other than wear, which I'm not worried about given the 2,000 odd miles a year I drive the car.
The G-Max are hard to beat from a budget stand point., especially with some of their offers/incentives.
Continental ExtremeContact Sport are my go to for my modern cars that have more ubiquitous sizing. I find they are 95% as good as the Pilot sport 4S while lasting twice as long.
