I've found one locally for sale with 92,000 miles on it. Looking at it externally, it looks good, with a couple of minor scratches (normal for a 20yo car).
Owner has a note on the dash discussing new sound system, TPMS, and backup camera. Also added a short shifter.
With a car of this age and mileage, what can I expect as issues? Were there any internal issues with the late production LS6s (I remember something about valve springs, but its been forever)? How close is a new clutch likely to be?
Any other things to look out for?
I would check tires, but assuming that has been taken care of at that mileage. Column lock bypass, any service history on it would be helpful for you as well and harmonic balancer as well? Just somethings that came to my head. If you have a trusted local shop I would spend the couple hundred to get it inspected first.
The 2004 Chevrolet Corvette LeMans Commemorative Edition was a limited-run model celebrating the Corvette's success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.Available in coupe, convertible, and Z06 models, it featured a distinctive Le Mans Blue paint and Shale-colored interior. Key features included Le Mans Blue paint, cross-flagged embroidery on seat headrests, and commemorative wheel centers. The Z06 version also included a carbon fiber hood.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a local shop that is especially knowledgeable about C5s. Closest ones are over an hour away. Were the valve springs an issue on later LS6s? I think I knew about the harmonic balancer on earlier C5s, didn't know if it extended to the 04's.
Tires look OK, not sure of the age, but the tread looks serviceable for a little while.
I'm just trying to see what I should look out for, if I decide to move on the car. I gotta sell a boat, first, though!
Thanks!
Byrdman
Thoughts. Are you a DIY mechanic and not afraid to dig into electrical problems the C5 has in all years? Agree, definitely find a shop that knows C5 for a good inspection. Is there one locally where the seller lives (the local Vette club could make recommendations)? If yes, will the seller agree to take the car there for inspection? Good luck with your plan to own a C5.

The recommendation about getting the car inspected by a certified Corvette tech is a sound one. Hopefully you have a tech available nearby that you can use.

Yeah, DIY isn't much of a concern; having the right tools and fixtures is. I'm an A&P mechanic, so working in tight spots isn't a worry. As long as I can get a wiring diagram, pinouts, and expected readings, I can figure out electrical stuff. I just don't want to buy something that I'm going to need to sink several thousand in right off the bat.
Thinking about what I want to do, I'm not sure the CE is the way I want to go. With the mods I want to do, it could hurt the value more than I'd like. Still mulling the decision, but C5s were the hot thing when I first got into cars, and they're hard to beat for looks and performance for price.
If available, standard or optional on Coupes, Convertibles?
I can't even recall if Z06 was avail on Coupes, CV.
Asking for a future friend. Been away from C5's over a decade and dementia is setting in.
LeMans CE option on Z06 came with the stripes, they were not available on base cars.
On the C5 the Z06 was basically a sub-model, a stand alone car, was only built as a Fixed Roof Coupe, no other body style.

Many thanks. It's beginning to come back to me now. And of course there would not have been be any stripes on the CV top, even if stripes had been an option. Yeah I had one of those sub-model Z06's. The 03 TRZ on the left. And a AE 03 CV. Now ISO 03/04 MYZ.
