Default Exhaust system

Hey everyone, first time doing a thread on here so I’ll try and do it right.
I’ve got a c5 corvette with a Borla cat back on, with stock headers and mid pipe, I like the sound but as any kid I want it a bit louder, would me getting a straight pipe that cuts out the mufflers in the mind pipe make much of a difference? Not in power but in sound.

also wondering will it affect getting headers ahead of time or will they fit onto the custom made kit?
thanks

Going with a muffler delete and the stock H pipe will not sound very good, but it will be louder.. With a X pipe it will sound much better.

I would leave the catback exhaust alone. If you are talking about just modifying the H-pipe on the car, get yourself a set of quality headers, which usually comes with an X-pipe replacement for the H-pipe (along with some high flow catalytic converters) and all that should match up perfectly with the Borla catback exhaust. The sound will be noticeably louder and much better than what you have in place now.

Adding a midpipe would add a modest amount of volume. If you wanted a more significant increase in volume you can upgrade to a louder borla system or another brand. A quality header + xpipe setups from brands like Kooks or arh are also an option for more significant power and volume gains.

While long tube headers, whether big dollar or small, will provide both more volume and more power, bear in mind they require a tune to run right. And they have a distinct thin wall ping sound with each exhaust pulse. Personally, that’s part of the appeal, but some don’t agree.
An x pipe won’t make an appreciable difference, unless it’s cat-less, in which case it would increase both volume and power, without necessarily requiring a new tune.

What Borla are you running? Your best bet might be a quality x-pipe and Billy Boat Bullets or Corsa Xtreme.

im currently just on borla s type with mufflers, think im going to get a x pipe as its more affordable and then further ahead in time ill throw some headers on.

do you know where I am able to get a cat-less pipe, think I’ve confused myself as the the X pipes I’ve been looking at fit at the rear leaving the cats in, I’m looking to remove them.

If you want to remove your primary cats you would have to buy long tube headers. Long tube headers will require an x-pipe from the same brand. Ex: arh headers will require the arh x-pipe.

Are you asking about the small cats up front or the big ones, or both sets?

You can get louder without removing the cats. What are you trying to achieve by removing the cats?
