Default C7 seats in a c5

I know this has been talked about a lot but I just have a quick question that I wasn't able to find the answer of on other posts. Do you loose any headroom with a c7 seat i am 6 foot 2 and don't want to loose any more headroom than I have too. I guess while I'm here also do you loose headroom with a c8 seat?

I’m 6’3” and put c7 base seats into my c5z last summer. I love the upgrade and would do it again. I was also concerned about the loss of headroom but it has been negligible. The best way I can describe it is sitting in a stock 01/02z vis-a-vis a stock 03/04z - where the headliner protrudes a bit more compared to the earlier z06s and frcs

I've been wondering the same thing for the longest time @ 6' 3" and for an 01Z. Several weeks ago I bought a set of C7 seat but they're still sitting on my shelf... coolant reservoir took a dump and so I replaced the whole cooling system. Then wife's car needed attention.

Anyways, hoping soon I can hook up some power, plop the driver seat in my car, and find out how the headroom works for me!

If you wouldn't mind when you do the swap could you check your before and after headroom height? I'm sure the room is totally fine but I'm really curious what the difference actually ends up being.

You are going to lose about 1.5 inches. You will see a noticeable difference in your height. I am not trying to talk you out of it, just sayin. I'm 5'11" and I only have a couple maybe three inches till I rub my head on the targa.

My current driver seat (for several years now) is aftermarket so the "before" height isn't relevant, unfortunately. My recollection is that I only had maybe 1" headroom with stock C5Z seats after installing fresh foam, and this is in '01Z with more headroom vs. later C5Z. Also, I think my proportions are such that my torso is a bit longer.

Just tried out the C7 seat! Didn't drive with it but spent several minutes adjusting the position to my liking:
  • Rear all the way down
  • Front lifted a little for thigh support
  • Forward maybe 1.5" from furthest-back position
    • Was surprised it moves back far enough for someone probably up to 6' 5" to have a very comfortable amount of leg room
  • Reclined comfortably (keep in mind C5Z steering column doesn't telescope)
Aaannnndddd the consensus is: my fingers could slide between head and headliner for maybe ~3/4" headroom while sitting upright / not slouching. [6' 3" ]
So from that it seems I fit, though I felt higher vs. my current aftermarket seats (where I have ~1.5" headroom)... which also means a little less forward visibility due to sun visors.

The C5Z roof slopes down at the back so if I needed the C7 seat further rearward then my head/hair would definitely rub.

I took that pic when I swap for C7 seats has you can see they are almost the same height although I’m 5’7 so no problem for me.
