:mad i installed my cags switch tonight. then i lowered the car. next i go for a quick spin. i get on a straight open stretch and red line 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and quickly start going through 4th. i see the oncoming headlights drift off to the shoulder and then i pass them doing about 110. yep, it's a state trooper.
gave me a ticket for 89 in a 55. $175 :mad
i am so pissed at myself right now. i haven't had a ticket in years. i've had the z for 1 week tomorrow and i already got busted :(
oh yeah...i am not telling the wife either. i don't need that mess.
Re: installed CAGS, lowered car, got a ticket! (rutiger)
That sucks, i'm sorry to hear that! :mad :mad Smart move by not telling the wife! :smash: Anywho how did the car feel when you went 1-3 red lineing it? What is the speed at the top of third anyway?

Sounds like he did you a really nice favor. In most states 20-35 over the limit usually means judge time and loss of your license for a period of time.
You could always file a request for discorvery on his notes or take a chance that he doesn't show in court. Here is a nice site for some of this. http://www.nolo.com/lawcenter/ency/a...4B6F4035C8BE0E
From the nolo site:
The more serious the violation, the more likely the officer will be there. If you and a dozen others are ticketed at "quota time" for going 5 mph over the speed limit, the officer is less likely to show up than if you were cited for going 60 mph in a school zone.
The further the officer is located from the courthouse, the less likely he is to appear. In large counties this can really work to your advantage.
Since he wrote you for about 20+ less than what you were actually doing, I would just go ahead and check to see if he shows. If he doesn't you are home free, and if not see if your state allows traffic school for your offense.
Re: installed CAGS, lowered car, got a ticket! (rutiger)
I feel your pain! Got my first ticket EVER in my Z (at age 33). Doin' twice the legal limit no doubt! Twenty in a 10mph zone. To top it off, I was only going 15! Anyhoo, those little E-4's (MP's) were having a great time busting a Lt. in a 'Vette. Didn' know how to fight it, ticket only said "speeding" on it, no location or speed was listed! $68.
From: Muncie, Indiana ...... Can I buy an amplifier on time ... I ani't got no money now but I'll pay you before I die

If he went to court and the officer didn't show he might be home free as far as getting out of the fine. But then his wife might see it in the paper and he could be in more trouble than if he would have just paid the fine.
Re: installed CAGS, lowered car, got a ticket! (rutiger)
I know a trick to keep the ticket off of your record for a while, at least in Maryland. Wait for the court date and go in and pay it, but say that you can't stay for court. You can do that twice, third time you have to be in court. You'll have to check the rules in your area. That keeps it off your record for months more... :D
Re: installed CAGS, lowered car, got a ticket! (rutiger)
A slight deviation on the thread....did you also get the wheels aligned right after the lowering or are you just driving it now with in the stock alignment settings (pre-lowering)?
Re: installed CAGS, lowered car, got a ticket! (rutiger)
Similiar thing happend to my dad, he installed his stingers and vortex rammer and got a ticket for 78 in a 35. He told the cop exactly what was was goin on and he wrote him up for 53 in a 35. some cops are alright, he was an f body owner.
