Good morning, all,
I have been looking desperately for a replacement windshield for my 2002 C5 convertible. I am getting the same answer from everyone. No stock, discontinued by dealer, National backlog with no eta. I'm in the east bay in California. I found one in Arizona and I'm planning on driving there to get it replaced. Obviously, I would like to find something more local. Why is this windshield so scarce? I get it, it is 23 years old, but there are many of these cars still on the road. Can anyone help and shed some light on this.
Thanks, Bill
Is this because of a heads up display requirement or are they all difficult to find? I'm paying for glass coverage but what good it that if no windows are available?
Suggestion. If you have comprehensive glass coverage, contact your agent for help locating a replacement. They sometimes have info that can find stuff that we cannot.
I had Safelite repair a small star in my 02 and the tech showed me their inventory, and they had quite a few C5 windshields. Have you tried the "major" guys?
Import Glass Corporation has foreign made, “Solar” glass, shaded windshields in San Bernardino. But they show only stock in Phoenix and Tucson for HUD ( Heads Up Display). I used to cheat for cash customers and put regular solar glass windshields in their cars to be “cost effective”. I don’t remember who told me it works with solar glass. I never got to see them.
909-386-9237 , the San Bernardino warehouse may tell you who has an account with them to install your windshield. You didn’t get that phone number from me….
Thanks for checking in. I started With Safelite, and after an exhaustive search on their part, they canceled my appointment and told me to look elsewhere.
