I can't remember the last time I wrote a check.

Get a credit card, 1 credit card.
NOT a debit card. IF a debit card is compromised they have direct access to the live funds in your bank account. IF you have overdraft protection, they can potentially drain all of your accounts.

WITH a CREDIT card, this isn't the case. If the number gets compromised, all they can do is ring up charges until a flag is set off. But you are not out that money; as you would be a debit card.
In other words, it's easier/better to fight to KEEP your money (if you have fraudulent charges against a CC), than it is to RECLAIM your money if it has been taken from your account.

I still have a debit card, that is only tied to 1 single account, with no overdraft coverage. I keep ~$500 or so in it, and that's the most I could be out if compromised.

The above is called segmenting your finances. And it's imperative that we all do so.
