after installing the shifter and panels back into my C5, the last part was the ashtray..since this is mostly a show car and neither of us smoke, I thought it odd to have a plastic ashtray , where the lid dont close...after looking around I dont see a metal insert of any kind...maybe its together wrong , because the lid wont stay shut unless the lid that covers it and the lighter is closed ?????????
Yep. It was designed to spring open when you open the flip up lid on the center console bezel. Good news is you can simply remove it and perhaps convert the cigarette lighter into a USB outlet port.
