In honor of the thousands of same or similar cars which all descended on Carlisle, here is one of my favorite Corvette videos poking accurate holes in the community.
I had tried getting a FB page rolling where folks would keep the "Which Corvette is BEST Corvtte" schtick going while making fun of stuff that gets posted but it never took off.
WORSE. A bunch of the dudes who went there to post totally did not get it. The plane went way over their head. They thought it was a legit "this is why my corvette is awesome" post and never got that it was mocking, specifically, them.
There are things that are great about the Corvette but at times there are some things people do to them that leave me speechless. Some don't know when to stop too.
As a co worker said one time the only taste some people have is in their mouth.
The Fiero people can be this way too. We had one car going around that was great looking on the outside but the engine and interior looked like someone vomited Crayola's. Florescent colored convoluted tubing on everything and painted the panels red, blue, green and other colors on the interior. He killed the car.

It does seem like a rare case when a vette owner actually improves the car. There's usually only 3 types. 100% stock and minty. Tasteless and overdone. Me-too trim pieces to carbon fiber bukkake over everything.
Finding that 4th type who has done something substantial, novel and aesthetically pleasing--is like a holy grail.

My general style is less is more for appearance. Strip the BSM. No exhaust plates. Nice wheels. Maybe some tint. That's how the Z06 will be. The coupe? I bought that for the parts and the price, not the hood / tail / color etc. It is not my style for any Corvette. But it darn sure gets people talking and taking pictures everywhere it goes.

Nothing could bore me more than "100% stock and minty". Snooze fest at best. Tasteless and overdone is typically just that. Some folks just don't know when to stop. Especially with vomit inducing chrome, vibrant interior tones, and extra C5 logos adorning their vehicle. Me too trim pieces like chrome exhaust plates and colorful C5 logo stickers on the steering wheel come to mind. Real carbon fiber has it's place and it's weight saving benefits, but its ugly IMO, and more often than not, it's fake carbon fiber overlays which is just DAF.
My '99 has factory painted thin spoke wheels and the unpopular BSMs. A TrackSpec hood (which is more for function), flush taillights, and cartoon evil eyes exhaust plate. Which are the only things esthetically changed on my car. Otherwise all the other changes were focused on performance. Which to me falls under #4 above.
Don't make'em ugly and gaudy, just make them faster and less dated looking.

There is a Jeep Wrangler FB page that does a great job of mocking all the ridiculous stuff some people put on their Wranglers. Lots of the posts make my eyes hurt but it's funny.

OMG, this!!! I recently bought a c5 vert that has a virtual plethora of c5 logos inside. Just why??? Geez!

I did not know that later year cars actually came with a flag logo on the Z06 (and coupe?) rear of the central arm rest. Believing it was aftermarket extra junk, I ripped it off my 03. I would still remove it had I known. But it makes me laugh at how opposed I've become to extra badging, including logos on aftermarket parts which are too big.

I was not aware (until just now) some later years came from the factory with a logo on the armrest. I assumed these were all aftermarket additions in poor taste. Same as you, that **** would get removed immediately. We also share our dislike for performance parts logos. I turned the coupler on my intake tube so the somewhat subtle "ECS" logo was no longer visible in my engine bay. I require a clean no word/logo clutter look inside and out.
I want to debadge everything. On principle. Not because I'm embarrassed about Chevy or Corvette. But because GM bukkake's badging all over everything. And clean/uncluttered is just abnormal and refreshing.
Great video.... I LMFAO at so many of the comments in the video because I think the same thing as the OP when I walk around car shows.
I try to find cool ****, but 1/2 the time it is stupid stuff, model cars on the engine, theme cars ( black car = darth vader, green car = hulk theme, red car = dead pool).
Granted I see this more on Mustangs, Camaro, and Chargers/Challengers. But us Corvette owners put some tasteless stuff on our cars also.

And it still doesn't compare to what some of the Jeep people do, and of course they call all the mess "mods" or an "accent color."

I would rather see a car with tasteless but well-executed cosmetic mods...than another "theme" car dripping with accoutrements.

I agree. I'm talking about when Corvette owners put extra LS3 or Z51 emblems, the tail light louvers, the wanna-be C7 rear glass things. I've even seen two different C6 with some plastic thing down the middle of the rear glass to try to make it look like a '63 split window.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
