I know there's a few different types out there, from smaller than a cell phone to the size of a normal battery charger. Any particular one you've used and prefer?
my vette barely started this morning, if it had to try any harder to turn over i would've heard clicks
I have the same one, but it is an older version that's probably over 10 years old and still doing great. Like many others I stick with the Battery Tender brand.
I use Noco Genius one for my C5, liked it so much bought a 2nd for my 1965 Chevy C10 truck.
Just bought another brand off Amazon for motorcycle batttery called Motopower Jr 800, it seems good as well but the display is smaller so I go up closer to see it’s in green.
I like the motopower Junior because I can leave the ring terminals on the motorcycle and unplug the harness, then plug the other harness on that has clamps to use on another car.
It’s on sale for $13.99 at the moment, I paid more.
I use CTEK. Same brand GM uses for their Battery Protection Package option. I save a little money buying it direct but don’t get the Corvette logo printed on it.
I don't think you have to worry about fire with the "Batterytender" brand. They were originally designed for permanent installation in aircraft, and thousands are in use. They INVENTED desulfantion.
The auto ones sold at Northern Tool are waterproof and a great value.
what!?!? Mounting hardware?! Im kinda visualizing how it works...mount it, connect to battery, then plug in to outside power source?
Yes.
It's got a little cradle that attaches with 2 screws, then a velcro strap that secures charger to bracket. The charger output has a couple eyes on the end of the output cord to connect to battery. Then I guess you could route the cord to somewhere outside the car like you would with a block heater cord?
I never mounted mine for a few reasons; I remove the battery from the car when in winter storage, I also use the charger with my motorcycle and finally, I don't like drilling holes in my car for stuff like this.
