looks like one of the screws that hold the bottom of the steering column surround in place.
All other screws are 7mm hex heads in that area or 10 or 13 mm nuts.
I had the dash partially opened up this past weekend and I couldn't find anywhere that that screw would fit. Several of the 7mm hex head screws were missing though, so I got those replaced.
The steering column trim is just sitting in place. No screws at all. The screw bosses are broken off inside So I cant put any screws in it right now.
I will be ordering a replacement this week and go from there.
That is not a trim screw. Look for a metal device that is secured to another metal piece.
Yeah, almost all of the trim screws are 7mm hex head. I had the entire instrument cluster out, as well as the knee bolster and center console and couldnt find any missing screws anywhere, and no other screws that looked similar.
I'm thinking maybe a previous owner incorrectly used that screw on the column trim. The cluster had been removed previously and some of the screws were missing.
Steering column brace under dash. There should be one on each side. Without them the column can drop a bit. This is the easiest way to remove your cluster.
