You will need to have 18" wheels in front to clear. You will also need the caliper brackets to clear the larger diameter rotors.

Some folks just run the C6 Z51 on the rear to better fill out the wheel.

The brackets you need are
88964166 Front X2
88964167 Rear X2

Used?
New ones are fairly cheap.
And, as stated, front wheel clearance can be an issue, stock C5 wheels won't clear, and you would need the matching caliper brackets.
Simple upgrade for more stopping power, if you really need it.

Yes, with 18" wheels, they are a good upgrade, I had them on my '99 C5.

Their contribution is less fade from repeated braking, like auto-cross for example. Not likely to stop faster than stock for typical street use, but they do look cool.

GM does not make the brackets any longer, but they are available aftermarket. You can use stock C5 calipers or C6 calipers. If you want to go all out C6 Z51, the rear calipers are unique, having a 42.5mm piston. I’ve been told that the stock C5 rear calipers are an acceptable substitute.

Info on the calipers…

These guys sell the brackets you would need:

DBA makes some pretty nice rotors for a decent price, I used them when I did the J55 brakes on my 2000. Picked up a complete set of calipers and brackets from flea bay, rebuilt the calipers with DRM stainless pistons and seal kits along with steel flex lines. Night and day difference between stock C5 brakes, I find it takes much less pedal effort stopping then previously.

Here are some notes from when I installed the C6 Z51 front brakes on my '99 FRC. I went with the DBA 5000 2-pcs rotors to help offset some of the weight gain that came with a larger diameter rotor along and the beefier / slightly less prone to spreading C6 2-piston calipers with DRM stainless steel pistons.

Centric front #125.62060 C5/C6 base 12.8" [325mm] 1-ps rotor weighs at 19.2 lbs
Centric front #125.62086 C6 Z51 13.4" [340mm] 1-ps rotor weighs at 22.5 lbs
DBA front #52990BLKS C6 Z51 13.4" [340mm] 2-pcs rotor weighs in at 20.5 lbs

C5 front caliper with mounting bracket weigh in at 8.3 lbs
C6 base front caliper with mounting bracket weigh in at 8.8 lbs
C6 base front caliper with Z51 mounting bracket weigh in at 9.0 lbs
