Good Deal?

Anything outside of a private resale will be difficult as the car will likely end up at auction if traded into a dealer, etc.
I'd be happier around 15k for this particular car without knowing more.
My advice, keep looking, lots more cars out there, widen your search area, wait for a better deal.
And, search for a 2001 or newer, less ABS issues.
Have the car inspected by a known C5 tech and if no problems are found, buy it and enjoy!

I hope you get what you are looking for!! Good luck!!

Prices haves gone up and down since then, but my guess is $18k still gets you a really clean car with zero issues. Just keep in mind these are older cars and they will need some love along the way. The balancer, for example. In a nutshell don’t settle.
Food for thought…. Not only is ABS a foundational safety feature in modern cars and trucks, the C5 in particular uses the EBCM for active handling, ie., may save your *** in a turn…. I would not buy a car, much less a sports car, without the ABS and traction control fully operative. I know others may feel differently.
Now, if you’re not concerned with traction control initially, but see some value in having it there are some companies that may be able to help you. See below.
Negotiate a reduction in price to fix it.You can get a new box if that is all that is wrong.
Selling a non 100% functioning Corvette is not good unless you plan to fix it. Too many good ones out there for just a few dollars more.
If money is that tight are you able to afford a Corvette in the first place, what if a Torque Tube or clutch goes next?
