Has anyone done the muffler delete ? I have the mufflers unbolted at the flange so straight pipes to that point . Dam it sounds good , but that is in the garage . Will it get obnoxious driving it around town or at highway speeds . Had Billy Boat PRT's but the drone finally got to me and went back to stock . In the process of doing the H pipe mod to get rid of the motor boat and rattle can noise of the stock exhaust .
The set of PRTs on my car are well over 20 years old and the amount of drone is minimal. To the point now I don’t notice it. I get plenty of compliments on how it sounds. If you are familiar with the PRTs they practically bypass the mufflers
Loud, but in my ears sounds awesome, LG headers, LG cats, LG xpipe, b&b bullets. Had my car like this since 2005, I don’t even know what other C5’s sound like anymore.
I don't recommend the delete. I ran SLP Loud Mouths back in the day for a brief time and that is exactly what they were - simply a delete with pipes to the rear. It sounded pretty great at WOT. But at wot only. Idle was horrible with oem manifolds and H-pipe. Exactly like the motorboat noise you mention. An X-pipe was needed. I ditched them back to a different set of Borlas on that car happily.
@Beast this sounds epic to me! I have ran shorties / x / Borla S on one car for many years and loved it, thinking of it as "how a C5 should sound." The drone as a daily got to me only once I drove a friend's car with LG pipes / X / Titaniums and I swapped to the Titaniums. The next car will be turbos to 3" / X / LG Big 3 muffler set. I'll see how that sounds when done.
Drone is the one thing I want to avoid . The PRT's drone was excessive , got to where I did not enjoy driving any distance at highway speeds . Went back to stock and did the muffler bypass .I am now doing the h-pipe mod .
