So, a number of people plus a thread on here has been suggesting that Techron was good stuff and suggested using it every 3-5 fuel ups, especially if not using the so-called top-tier fuels. I buy the cheapest 93 I can find, car seems to run great on it, but, whatever...
So, at walmart getting some stuff for my truck and the Techron was right there on the shelf so grabbed one.
Got home and went to dump it in and was worried I might spill or splash it on the paint so I went looking for my long funnel to get in the filler enough to push open the flap, but could not for the life of me find my long trans funnel, and none of my shorter ones would reach the flap. Finally found a piece of plastic conduit from the xfinity guy, left a loop of it after doing the install at my house, and cut a piece to stick on the funnel to make it reach and got the additive dumped in.
Then for next time, I cut the bottom off the Techron bottle to use for a funnel.
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
I have been a loyal Techron users for about a decade. Never had a problem opening the cap and putting it in the filler neck. Someone is overthinking maybe?
I used to have a lot of problems with the gas gauge. Yes the Techron does work. Until Costco opened with top tier fuel and their own additives that they add at the pumps. No need to use the Techron for over 15 years. Rumor has it that the top tier fuel is the way to go. I use it in all my cars.

This someone knows he has had mishaps before with stuff like this.
On a side note, took a lap around the neighborhood and I think the Techron added at least 50 HP...

I have a Costco 5 minutes from my house so I always fill up there. The added bonus is that it's just outside of Chicago so it automatically around 50 cents cheaper then the closest gas station in Chicago.
On 3 of my previous C5's, I used Techron religiously with Top-Tier Fuel (yes, it's worth it).
Since the C5 has 2 tanks, every so often, I would put in one bottle at near empty and fill up half way....then another bottle of Techron and fill up the rest of the way.

I believe there are threads that say you can over do this.
Yeah, heard that too.
Like I said in my first comment, it was suggested to me to use a bottle every 3-5 fills.
I added the one this time with the tank at just below full, will probably do the next one when I fill it up, so I can add it first.
Within my first year of C5 ownership my fuel gauge went to empty suddenly, and a bottle of Techron snapped it right back into shape. I’m now a believer and occasional user of the stuff.

I had the gas gauge problem with my other car, a Saab, when I was using Shell gas almost exclusively. I would "fix" it with Techron or BG44K. After I switched to Costco gas ten or so years ago, I no longer had the gas gauge sender deposits problem. But I still use the additive every 7500 miles or so, just in case.
I've still never had the problem with the Corvette, but I treat it as well every 7500 miles.
I have never much believed in fuel additives, but when I bought my C5 I read about their fuel gage problems, and about Techron as an often recommended solution. Sure enough, within the first year of ownership, my fuel gauge went to empty suddenly, and a bottle of Techron snapped it right back into shape. Ever since then, I have run a bottle through the car every few months and I have not had any more fuel gage problems. I generally run 93 octane ethanol free fuel from Walmart, FWIW. I guess you can say that I am a Techron believer, at least when it comes to my C5.
I have read and seen several articles about Walmart gas being among the worst you can buy. Just meet the basic EPA detergent requirements and lax on tank inspections. Spend 10 cents more per gallon and use only top tier fuel in your vette. It's not a beater car. BTW quality Costco fuel is cheaper than Walmart!

That is surprising and good to know. Thanks.

Walmart (Murphy gas) is less than one mile from my home. Gas is cheaper than all other local stations. I fill my Corvette and Ram Hemi there all the time. Costco is 9 miles away. Traffic is bad and I have to wait in line for fuel like the 1970's at Costco. An occasional bottle of Techron in my car is easier than going to Costco. The Hemi doesn't care. Sticking to Walmart fuel.
