Out here in the wide open spaces we can get a long way from anything... my normal cruises are out west to the coast and for the C5 I bought a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 ZP's.... as time goes by and I get older I don't want to be on the side of a road no doubt in the rain at midnight trying to get stuff in and the tire pumped up.... I carried the pump and stuff in my C6 GS for years and only had one flat and I was in town so just went in to have it fixed.... I don't think these new Michelins ride that bad as I have heard the RF's continue to evolve.... and I do have my AAA card also.....
I remember in the early 90's I think Goodyear was putting run flats on the late C4's.... we ran with a large pack of Corvettes from Sioux Falls to Spearfish SD. The Goodyear folks were there and to show off the RF's they drilled a good sized hole in the sidewall of one of the steer tires on a new Corvette. Then they drove it 400 miles to Spearfish..... now those were some hard riding sidewalls......
I have owned two 2002 verts and immediately got rid of the run flats. They were old, noisy and lacked traction. Replaced with Hankook V12 and Michelin Pilot Sport 5. No regrets. Buy at Costco and get a good price along with road hazard protection included. I have AAA plus a 12v compressor and plug kit for emergency. On a dry summer day, the runflats would break loose to the point they were dangerous and the road noise was bad. If you plan to drive it do some tire research.
Another option in the extremely unlikely event you get a flat that a compressor and perhaps a temporary plug won't fix is to just pay for a one-time tow, instead of the years and decades of unused AAA membership.
I have only had to change my tire once that I can remember in 50 years, and that's when I tore the sidewall on the rebar sticking out of a local parking lot's damaged parking bumper.
I may be one of the few that trust runflat tires. 28 years with them. They are better now than they ever were. The newest Michelin is a great all around Performance tire. I enjoy the reliability and safety of them. I’m no young guy to be playing around on the side of any road or highway. Over the period of time that I have owned my car I have had 3 punctures and got to where I needed to safely. I can only wish the none believes good luck. I certainly do not want a AAA tow jockey because of a flat tire.

I ditched my run flats about 3 years ago and we're running PS3s. As I stated earlier, it's changed the driving experience for the better. My concern with run flats is of course the stiff ride and the road noise. They were called Fred Flintstone tires for good reason.
So - for those of you that have them, how do these new gen Michelin ZPs ride as compared to a standard Pilot Sport? And what about that interior noise out on the hiway? Our C5 is a coupe so that big rear glass reflects all the tire noise back into the cabin. I've talked to a few C7 owners in our club, and they are surprsingly sticking with their run flats.
We're planning on joining the '29 Corvette Caravan - from the Seattle area. I would entertain installing new run flats if they were comparable to what's currently on our car.

The new Michelin ZPs are worlds better than the Goodyears that originally came on our cars, but they definitely don't match the performance of a max performance summer tire. They're much closer to a standard all season tire though.
...as I said earlier I like the ZP's currently on my 02.... They are brand new and my car also has the Z51 option ..... so it rides like a sports car, tight in the turns but not harsh out on the Western American Highways.... The fronts are 245 - 40 ZR 18's and the rears are 285 - 35 ZR 19's..... they are not like running on rubber bands for sidewall depth.... they are all season also.... I like to drive it in the Fall and early spring if weather and the roads are clear.... no regrets on going ZP at this point.

I can not compare one tire to the other. I have only own the ZP. I can compare that to the original Goodyear that are garbage in comparison. To me the corvette is a sports car. I changed the exhaust because it was too quiet. So road noise is not a problem. If I what a smooth ride I use the Buick. The ZP is an ultra high performance tire that is the best runflat on the market. If the experience you have had is something different then the Michelin ZP it is outdated.
i had some old ZP from the previous owner(s) and they were horrible! very rough ride. I put on PS4 A/S and it feels like a new car - highway cruising is now a pleasure.
I checked Tire Rack (a Discount Tire company) and about $1400 shipped plus installation.
i checked Costco - $1800 OTD
i finally bought from Discount Tire for $1400 OTD with extra pro-rated warranty and installation.
