C5 Route 66 drive
Hello everyone,
I’m happy to be here, it’s been nearly 20 years since I was last on this site. Anyway, let me get to the point.
I’m hoping to purchase a C5 Corvette, preferably in SoCal and driving it on Historic 66. It’s the last thing I’ll likely be able to do to honor my late father’s wishes as that’s something we’d talked about doing multiple times but never did. My plan is to scatter the last of his ashes in each state on the route.
I’m sure plenty of other people have taken this trip. Care to share some experiences? Highlights? Things to avoid? I’m no aficionado by any means and have only been doing research for about a month but it looks like a late C5 might be the way to go.

I would agree that getting the newest C5 you can afford is the way to go. I would recommend a 2001-2004 car just for the upgrades that were made to the platform and the ability to repair some of the parts on the car.
