My new to me C5 Convertible came with a foam cargo area separator panel similar to this:
There was a black "compression rod" installed the trunk area that appears to have been used to support the panel across the top. This rod has come loose and is rolling around in the cargo area. Before I simply pull it out and throw it away, does this really serve a purpose, or was the simply an idea of the P.O.?
Don't throw the compression rod out, just yet. The top of the foam separator panel tends to get push backward due to air pressure inside the cabin, at least is does in my FRC. See if you can reuse the compression rod. I have thought about installing a section of L bracket on the bottom of the cross bracket to hold the foam separator panel in place in my car.
I gave up on using the foam divider in my Z06 because it would move out of place with the windows down and I almost always drive with my windows down. A rod might help that.
